Fastest Flying Migration : Arctic Tern

FalconThere are several reasons why the birds migrate to distant places either due to the environmental factors liketemperature fluctuations, search for food and other varied factors. The birds migrate in different groups and in flocks and fly together in great groups to distant places. They fly to great places either individually or in groups and via same or different routes. These birds go for pilgrimage regularly and the idea of routes is gathered from the ancestors who had traveled the same distance last year through the same distance for the pilgrimage. There are several people who have done great research to find the reasons and routes of these yearly pilgrimages to distant places.

Generally birds move to the south regions in the fall to escape the cold weather but it is not sure that all the birds migrate because of cold. There are many who manage to live in the existing areas. The breeds which migrate generally are chickadees, wood peckers, nut hatches and other which migrate due to immense cold and stormy weathers and come back when the environment becomes soothing and calm.

The chief reason for the migration is the food factor as in the bad weathers the prey is not easily available as every insect and animal undergoes hibernation to escape the bitter environment. Generally, tiny birds migrate first as they don’t get their prey to survive upon as in this season the number of insects are less due to immense number of reasons. So they move to warmer regions to a place where they have good food supply. These birds generally get better food near the lakes, ponds and other regions near the water supply and these birds too like to stay near the water. Generally birds prefer going to nearer places but there are breeds which like to move to distant regions and they enjoy the flight.

FalconNext critical factor for the birds to migrate is that the lakes in their areas freeze due to extreme cold and frost, so they move to places where the water is cool and the flow is normal. They generally move in search of open water where theyget food and a place to swim and enjoy a normal living. There are dozen of ducks and swans which move to distant places in search of a better abode for spending certain tough times of life.

They generally move to inland water lakes and the journey is worth remembering for them. They travel more than 2500 miles and this varies from species to species of birds. Even birds like snowy owls do mitigate in search of prey. The chief reason again stays to be the shortage of food and prey. This migration of flock to distant places is termed as Leap frog mitigation. They generally move in winters and come back home after a long journey in the summers when the ice melts and again there is a living in the zone they prefer to live in.
