Fastest Running Dog : Greyhound

There are various species of canines. The fastest running dog from these species is the Greyhound. Like many fast runners the greyhounds have a lanky and sleek body, which enable them to run at a great speed. They are commonly used on the racetracks and other forms of races. They can reach a whopping speed of 70-80 km/h. the owners of the greyhounds are mostly racers who use them for racing. The lifespan of a greyhound depends upon how long it can run and win races and also upon how good its master is. After the greyhound losses its youth and is unable to run as fast as it used to it is usually killed. Those who are lucky enough to be spared are sold to the family who is in need of a family dog. The dogs could also be rehabilitated elsewhere. They are sleek, light in weight and are very strong and healthy. They have a long tail and the color of their eye is dark.

They are also a bit muscular. The greyhounds are of different colors and hence it becomes easy to distinguish them sometimes. The greyhounds are also used for hunting small animals like rabbits. Also the rescue team for rescuing people uses the greyhounds. But sometimes the greyhounds get confused and end up doing errors. In a family it is advised to keep other pets and small children away from greyhounds. Also having a rehabilitated greyhound as a pet saves time and energy f training it and its skill can be used when needed. Due to all these reasons the greyhound are mostly found in the captivity of people.

Very few greyhounds can be found in the wild. But those who are found in the wild love to live in open areas where they can run at a great speed at their own free will. Some of the groups classify greyhounds in the group of hounds rather tan canines due to their appearance. They greyhounds were first used in ancient Egypt and were given utmost importance.

Later on they were found in other countries. It was in England that the importance of greyhounds as race dogs was realized. The greyhounds require lots of food to eat daily. The maximum energy of the greyhounds is not known by anyone but still they are famous for their extravagant speed. They also love to lie down in the shade of trees. So when they are not busy racing they can be seen resting their legs under the shade of trees and enjoying the cool air. This helps them conserve their energy for the next race. Even when they are in captivity, they need a huge place where they can flex their muscles and run. It is not possible for any greyhound to ever adjust in a small place like other dogs do. Even though they look fierce they love to play with kids as they are gentle in mentality.  Lastly it is necessary to have patience while dealing with a greyhound.
